It's NaNoWriMo Time!

Today's the day I sit and write 1667 words to launch this year's NaNoWriMo project, so far an unnamed manuscript.

Then I get up tomorrow and repeat - then repeat daily until November 30th. Join me?

4 Days and Counting: NaNoWriMo

I have no idea what happened to days 7, 6 & 5. I hope things go better from now to Nov 1st - NaNo Day! I need to adjust to a new schedule and not get behind. It's hard enough to keep up during November, catching up would be horrendous.

8 Days and Counting: NaNoWriMo

One week from tomorrow, I will not be watching a lot of TV. I will have classical music on - no words, just music. I will write for 2 1/2 hours straight. This is a recipe I will repeat for 30 days.

This is one of the pledges to myself that I actually keep every year. Since 2005, I've started 5 manuscripts during NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month. Two of them are completed and published: The Chronicles of Acqueria: Blood Moon Treachery & The Seasons of Sam Rock.

How do I complete them? There are other sites that help after November, like NaNoFiMo - National Novel Finishing Month in December and NaNoEdMo - National Novel Editing Month in March.

9 Days and Counting: NaNoWriMo

The panic is starting. What am I going to write this year? Can I keep it up for 50,000 words? What am I going to forget to do that needs to be done, besides writing?

Guess I better make a list and leave extra lines for all those unforeseen things that are bound to pop up.

10 Days and Counting: NaNoWriMo

Only 10 days to go before the madness starts. I'm just starting to think about my ms, maybe map out a little bit of an outline. That usually lasts about 10 days into the month, then I'm winging it day to day, scene to scene and chapter to chapter.

It's coming! Soon! 50,000 words in 30 days! That's how I spend my Novembers. Since 2005, I have written more than 250,000 words during November. I'll be at it again. Getting Better

I'm getting better and better at posting. Of course, posting the diaries from my characters helps. They want their voices heard. I want to tell their stories. We all win.

For the Count

Consistency counts. Routines count. Time and materials count. My writing life counts for something. Must up my word count. Everything you do counts. Time to be counted. Otherwise all the talent in the world counts for nothing.

Writer's Block

I have not written. I have not edited. I have not... I guess I have writer's block. I need to work out of it. There are only so many days of life and sight left. I've already used the majority of time allotted to me. Now I must not waste what is left. I have much to do - a total of nine manuscripts that I'm working on. One is published on Amazon and Smashwords. One is near completion. One needs a new ending. The other six are stuck. I still have to finish the first draft. Most were started during various NaNoWriMo's. I've done five of these in the last five years, but not finished them. Now, it must be now, before it's never.

Happiest of New Years! I've been on a two week shutdown from my day job and apparently from life. I haven't gotten even a smidgen of the things I really wanted to do done, including writing. What makes me think retirement is going to be any different. The minutes seem to fill themselves without my direction and my lame attempts at organization seem doomed from the getgo. Gotta do something about that!
